The Holiday Dance Classic was held at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas December 9 - 13 2009. This event grows each year and 2009 was no exception with over 13,000 entries which made it the largest event in the USA for 2009. (Ohio Star Ball had more entries but the final count included several thousand entries in the Collegiate Events - Holiday Dance Classic does not have Collegiate entries, only Pro/Am, Amateur, and Professional.
Even though the entries were higher this year in the Pro/Am and Professional, entries in the Amateur divisions were down. For instance in the Amateur Standard "B" Championships in Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, and Quickstep there were only 4 couples competing. Into 1st place from California Andreas Meijer and Jody Frease-Meijer; 2nd place from Honolulu our own Glenn Okazaki and Anne Ho; 3rd place from California James McGann and Katherine Cornan; and placing 4th Takeshi Kawaratani and Annie Chan.
Congratulations to Glenn and Anne - keep up the good work.
