Mr. Keith Todd, Editor of Dance Beat (America's Foremost Dancesport News Source - www.dancebeat.com or www.dancebeatworld.com ) attended the Philippine Star Ball as a judge and had this to say about the event:
"A truly world-class international event in the Philippines brings out many of the worlds best from Europe, Asia and North America!
The Organizers, Michaela "Pinky" Puno & Jojo Carino have run this event three times and each year they invite many of the world's best amateur and professional dancers to contest their events in the superbly decorated ballroom complete with a full stage and marvelous sound system and lighting. The whole event is filmed for later broadcast on Philippine national TV."
Winners of the Professional Latin were Riccardo Cocchi & Yulia Zagoruychenko from USA. Second and Third place was a dual between two couples from Russia - Sergey Surkov & Melia (2nd) and Slavik Kryklyvyy & Anna Melnikova (3rd). Fourth place was Andrej Skufca & Melinda Torokgyorgy - Slovenia. Markus Homme & Ksenia Kasper from Germany were Fifth and from Canada, Andre & Natalie Paramonov were Sixth.
Arunas Bizokas & Katusha Demidova from the USA were easy winners in the Professional Standard (Ballroom). Second from Italy Domenico Soale & Gioia Cerasoli. Third were Domen Krapez & Monica Nigro of Slovenia. Former World Champion Alessia Betti with new partner Angelo Madonia - Italy were Fourth. The English couple, Warren and Kristi Boyce finished in Fifth place. Very happy to be in the final and finishing Sixth were Aleksander Zhiratkov & Irina Novozhilova from Hong Kong
There were many high profile and world-class amateurs competing. The Amateur Latin was won by Jurij Batagelj & Jagoda Strukelj from Slovenia. Second and Third positions were apparently an upset. Dorin Frecautanu & Reselina Doneva from Moldovia were Second and Martino Zanibellato & Michelle Abildtrup from Denmark were Third. Fourth place was taken by last year's winners Kirill Belorukov & Elvira Skrylnikova from Russia. An Australian couple, Manuel Favilla & Yuliya Nikitenko took Fifth place and from Austria Zufar Zaripov & Anna Tchemodourova were Sixth.
Italy took the first three places in the Amateur Standard (Ballroom). First Andrea Ghigiarelli & Sara Andracchio, Second Federico DiToro & Genny Favero, Third Gaetano Lavarone & Emanuela Napolitano. Fourth from Serbia Dushan Dragovic & Ekaterina Romashkina, Fifth from USA Ronen Zhinstein & Mariam Izmaylova, and Sixth the only couple from the Philippines to make a major final Emmanuel Reyes & Maria Rosete.
