“The Crown Jewel of Dancesport” is currently being held at the Eden Roc Renaissance Resort and Spa in Miami Beach, Florida (http://www.crownjewelofdancesport.com/) Attending, from Hawai‘i is Maria Handl with Professional Lucas Jaime of Divino Ritmo Dance. Miss Handl is becoming Hawaii’s most traveled dancer. She will be competing in over 90 events in American Smooth and Rhythm as well as International Latin. Results will be given later.
On May 25 I will be leaving for my annual trip to the Blackpool Dance Festival in the UK. I have been attending this event since 1950! I will return to Honolulu on June 9. Any interesting news or results from each day will be blogged.
On Memorial Day Weekend, May 27 through 30, the People's Choice Dancesport Competition is being held at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. I understand that student Janet Liu will be competing with Professional Carlos Chang. I believe some of Carlos's other students will also be competing. http://www.peopleschoicedancesport.com/
Students from Divino Ritmo Dance (Professionals Yanna Samkova and Lucas Jaime) will be attending the Millennium Dancesport Championships (http://www.m2dance.com/) This event is being held June 22 through 27at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Florida.
