The Latest News of Honolulu Dance Studios.

Unfortunately Doug Kesler’s Showcase “Fractured Fairy Tales” has been cancelled.
The Pacific Beach Hotel has raised its prices asking for a $4000 deposit and upped the meal price by $12. To me it seems that the Hotels are the only ones making money on Dance Showcases and Competitions.
So it is back to the Palladium with bentos, hard floor, bad lighting and dreadful sound system!! Sorry.

Al Franz’s Annual Showcase was also cancelled because of rising costs. The Al Franz Dance Studio was supposed to close but it has not. It is still at 419 South Street, Honolulu, Suite 140. Give Albert a call (808) 599-8335 for more information.

Debbie Borges Barbosa has moved her studio “Dream To Dance” from Auahi Street because of impending development in the Kaka’ako area. She now has a larger and beautiful studio on the 2nd floor of the new Palama Supermarket at 1070 North King Street, Honolulu. Give her a call for information (808) 372-5574.

The Aloha Activity Center at 725 Kapiolani Blvd as of March 31 2014 will not longer be a dance venue for private lessons and classes. It is being leased as a showroom for a cabinet making company.

The Sugino Dance Academy at 404 Ward Avenue, Suite #202, Honolulu is still alive and running even though that property is scheduled for development (who know when?).

Divino Ritmo Dance (Directors Lucas Jaime and Yanna Samkova) are currently renting floor space at the Sugino Studio. But a whisper tells us that they will soon be opening their own premises on the opposite side of the street. This information has not been confirmed.
